I've have a used U160->IDE Raid tower (PowerRAID 6 drive tower) that
was part of our ASIP setup.
Since I've replaced our ASIP with Xserve G5 and Xserve RAID (3.TB), I
wondered what use this RAID tower would be.
Since I have to upgrade my Retrospect server to a G4 and OS X, why not
upgrade the drives in the tower and make it a Raid 5 storage solution
for (EMC formerly Dantz))Retrospect to remotely back up files to the
tower.
Well, before I order replacement EIDE drives, I wondered if anyone on
the list has this product (Arena 99 or other name) and still uses it
but with OS X. I cannot get Charismac drivers installed. I only
recognize the individual drives when the chassis is connected to an
ATTO card.
Any suggestions? Should I persist? How does one get the drives
formatted and setup as Raid 5? Any directions to a vendor that supports
this unit? Or just ebay it?
