Wireless authentication against Open Directory

Hello everyone,

I'm currently trying to evaluate the options available for individual
authentication on a wireless lan. Unforuntately, requiring a VPN
connection is probably out of the question because we have numerous
clients which come in and use this wlan; it would be a nightmare to have
to configure all of their machines for VPN access. I'm currently looking
into two general options:

1) WPA Enterprise security with Airport Extremes and RADIUS against an
OpenDirectory

2) Some type of HTTP login page, ala Starbucks/T-Mobile hotspots, again
against an OpenDirectory

What are the easiest ways to do each with OS X Server and OpenDirectory?
I know I've read talk of OpenRadius and other Radius apps not quite
working with OS X Server. Is this true? We aren't above paying for a
Radius server package if we must, but OS X Server 10.3 compatability is a
must. Secondly, what was the oldest version of OS X supported WPA
Enterprise usage? I'm really interested in the HTTP type authentication
mentioned in option 2 for cross-platforum compatibility, however I know
very little of what is required to implement this. I imagine some
elaborate PHP tied into IPFW or such...

Thanks
Mike
