Re: ISP-level MTAs for OS X Server?

Are there any ESPs here using MTAs running on OS X Server? I use CommuniGate Pro, which is excellent, but as some may have heard has just undergone a drastic price change that has effectively priced it out of the small ISP market, so I'm trying to find out what can replace it at the next need to upgrade...

I take it that ESPs with many hundreds of domains (each domain having mail users maintained by the domain owners via a control panel) can't use OS X Server' mail setup, as it seems to not support multiple domains each with their own users sets, unless I'm missing something?

We recommend Post.Office. http://www.tenon.com/products/post_office

Post.Office is being used around the world by huge ISPs on many different platforms. The company who originally developed Post.Office (Software.com, now Openwave) sold it to our Japanese partners, who, in turn, licensed Tenon for the Mac OS X platform. So, now, outside of Japan, this great mail server is only offered on Mac OS X.

We've added SPAM filtering, virus scanning, IMAP, POP-before-SMTP, SMTP-Auth, etc. A testimony to the strength of this mail server and list server is that now ISPs (with 15,000+ mailboxes), who have used Post.Office for years, are buying their first Mac (Xserve) to have a supported product and to take advantage of the new Post.Office features.

Post.Office supports unlimited domains. All of the configuration and management is via a web-based interface. Individual users can manage their own accounts via the same interface. (Sub-administration (on a domain-by-domain) basis has been added to the Japanese version, but we have not yet incorporated it. This will be added soon.)

The interface is more intuitive than CommunigatePro and less expensive.
