I think you're confusing the php.net bundles available for
installation with a distro of PHP included with a particular
OS/platform.
Since PHP 4.3 THERE IS a bundled version of the GD library. That
doesn't mean that all PHPs use that bundle.
But I take it that is not true for the MAC version.
That's "Mac" or "Macintosh"
I didn't see any references to MAC OS X at the GD web site.
However, fink does say that GD is available for the MAC. But how do
you include it with PHP?
GD is not included in the OS X distributions. There are several
methods to install it, Fink is one of them, I think it's on
DarwinPorts too, and of course you can build it manually.
From there you will need to build PHP with GD support, referencing
the installation you performed (lib and includes)
