well sorta. You need xcode TOOLS 1.x installed, which is the new dev
tools essentially. But you're not gonna fire up Xcode - the app. To
compile proftpd, you'll use the good lovin' of the terminal.
And dhan (is it dhan or dan??) was right - you're gonna wanna build
from source - don't do fink if you can help it. MySQL authentication
in your case may be an attractive solution. I say that because I'm
somewhat familiar with what you are trying to do.
