How about a spare parts kit? Sounds like it could be a logic board problem. (could be jumping the gun, but...you've got the spare, why not try it?) Next I'd try RAM.

Server monitor won't run -- weird, huh?
Which reminds me, I haven't done any of the Security Updates on this thing either.
