A commercial spin-off to OSCommerce is eShox. 

eShox is more like a rip-off to OSCommerce. Why would
anyone pay money for it?

We're not the makers of eShox, but we do resell it, so I'd like to defend it. The packaging, documentation, and extensions to OSCommerce make it very easy for a non-technical entrepreneur to easily set up a shopping cart. Further, the companies that re-sell eShox provide the kind of support that may not be available by just using an open source product.

The philosphy is not unsimilar to that of our iTools. Apache is included in Mac OS X and free with Linux, so why buy iTools? iTools makes Apache easy to administer and maintain (even remotely using any web-enabled platform) and we give a level of support that is not available from Apple or on Linux platforms from the community-at-large.

People pay for both these products because it saves them time and ensures success.
