Below is the smb.conf.template on our system. It certainly hasn't
been
our experience that whether something is here (or not) will keep it
from being
overwritten when a runtime /etc/smb.conf is constructed. We tried
both
exercises.
I would love not to have to do 'chflags' because it makes things
brittle
and you can't use the GUI to change things, but I haven't found a way
to do it.
Which specific attributes are you setting ?
I never lock smb.conf in Panther. Then again my modifications are
principally limited to AD integration and a few performance tweaks.
