Setting up Multihoming IP via CLI?

Scanning through the Command_Line documentation provided by Apple <http://www.apple.com/server/documentation/> I fail to see a way to create the same way I would via ARD/Physical access a setup of having multiple IP#s on the same physical ethernet connection.

I see on page 39 how to change the IP#

"$ changeip [(directory|-)] old-ip new-ip [old-hostname new-hostname] "

but nothing explicitly for attaching a new IP# to the machine in addition to its present IP#.

I'm guessing by glancing at page 38 that I'm going to have to

"$ sudo networksetup -duplicatenetworkservice configuration newconfig "

and then change the configuration from there...or is there a more efficient way to go about it than that?

thanks for any help,
