Argh! I hate that I am going to ask this.

Server - 10.4.2 (and, as it happens on a 10.3 server at another school).

Clients - Windows XP - Mac 10.2 and up.

Problem - Mac computers will NOT log into server. The PC's will log in and indeed work entirely as expected.

Running on server - AFP, Web, OpenDirectory, Windows.

The Mac clients are advised that the machine they need to connect to is on IP number XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX and to use netinfo (not running on 10.4 but running on 10.3) and then ldap (running on both).

I thought the Macs would authenticate against ldap - yet they appear not to.

Locally (on the server), I can connect to any user I so choose to. The clients all see the server when I 'Connect to Server' via AFP or SMB on a PC.

Not really sure what other information is required, so with luck, someone has had and solved this problem and could offer a crumb of advice - tomorrow (Friday 12th) is my last day to get this solved before the S hits the Fan.

Feel free to ask any and all questions and I'll answer all I can. Oh, and I should point out that I've searched the web and AK Base all to no avail (it's difficult to ask this question in a search bar when it's more complicated so write than to comprehend, if you see what I mean. Anyway suffice it to say, I am not 1st Port of Calling it with the mailing list.

My huge thanks in advance,

Adrian - Milton Keynes Preparatory School
