Anyone have recommendations for an alternative?
24 Port RJ-45 GigE Simple Switch.
Don't need managed capabilities.  Just a simple switch to plug
workstations into.

MacConnection lists the Asante switch at $569.95
All the other ones I've finding that give me 24 GigE ports are way
more expensive.

Have a look at Netgear GS524T (http://www.netgear.com/products/
details/GS524T.php) starts around $380.00.

I have an HP 2724 at one site, which has run for years with no trouble. Its numbers are better than the Netgear, except the price - its more like $1100. If I was buying today I'd get the Netgear. I've never had any trouble with any of their products either, including the two 16-port 10/100 switches currently chained into the HP.
