Dead server

My server was a replica and we were trying to change ip's with the changeip
command. No video card. After changing ip it went dead. I can ping it. I
cannot ssh, I even added a serial cable to consol in to login and fix the
ip. Upon login prompt I have typed in root and admin and then password it
just times Out!

Help!!

What other ways can I change the ip of a dead headless xserve? Can I target
disk mode and change a file?
