Sever setup help - offlist

I am a high school teacher running the only Mac lab an an otherwise all PC district. Committed to switching to OSX server after running ASIP server for years. I've downloaded, bought and read pretty much all I could get my hands on, including this listserve. Signed up for Apple Server Essentials class this summer. Two classes canceled under me. Two more had waiting lists.

Finally got our PC tech to set up DNS for my server to look to and, presumably, the basic server setup. He left saying he set it all up correctly, but I can't get anywhere. Tech just says it is a Mac problem so I am on my own. If had more time, I would just work though it. But I don't have more time. School starts Wednesday.

My setup:
- 10.4 server
- 28 clients - all on 10.4
- Teach yearbook, desktop publishing/graphics classes and a film/ video class.
- Just looking to set up basic client management. No mail, web serving, etc.

I'm in Central California, 2 1/2 hours from the nearest network consultant listed by Apple, so I am figuring this is over the phone/ email/ichat. Just need a knowledgeable person to help over the bumps in the road. Could be only a few bumps, but don't know for sure. While it would be glorious to have someone offer their expertise for free, I'm not assuming such.

If interested, please email and we can discuss off off list.

Thanks,
Wayne Welch
