I've been having some trouble adding new vhosts to apache. I'm
running 10.3.7 (planning on going to 10.3.9 soon....) and apache
1.3.33. I add the new vhost in /etc/httpd/sites, and restart apache
via serveradmin at the shell. But when I hit the address it goes to
the first vhost in the list. Even after a reboot of the entire
machine, it still goes to the first vhost in the sites directory.
Has anyone else experienced this? I used to have the same problem
on redhat, but after a few minutes it would start to resolve
properly...
Apache defaults to using the first partial-matching virtual host it
can find when it can't find the correct match. This is therefore
expected behavior if you have a misconfiguration, and rather well
known behavior.
However 'vhosts' are more correctly those virtual hosts set up using
the mod_vhost_aliases module.
