Hmmm. That's odd. That command line you encountered is an Open Firmware
prompt, and I wouldn't expect that to come up unless you were hitting
Command + Option + O + F. What I would have expected from holding down the
Option key is a screen with a blue background, a circular arrow button
(rescan) to the left and a straight arrow (continue) to the right, and
between them icons representing bootable volumes, so one CD icon for the
install DVD and one or more HD icons for the server.
Have you formatted your drives as a RAID or are they discrete volumes? If
the latter, what happens if you pop drive 1 (or whichever is your boot
drive) out and then try to boot the system? If it boots off the DVD, you
should be able to reinsert the hard disk, use Disk Utility to mount it, and
carry on as you were with either a password reset or with an erase and
reinstall.
Another thought hits me-- you said you booted another Mac with that DVD. Do
you mean the DVD disc or the DVD drive? I'd make sure both work for booting.
