I am trying to import 4000+ records into open directory from a text file. I am trying the dsimport command with some basic switches...

dsimport -g /Users/diradmin/inputfile /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1. A -u diradmin -p -T xDSStandardUser -s 2000 -userpreset student

Lee, if you try the same import, but use nice, as in
sudo nice -n 20 simport -g /Users/diradmin/inputfile / LDAPv3/127.0.0.1. A -u diradmin -p -T xDSStandardUser -s 2000 - userpreset student

Does that help?
