I don't have an examples handy, but if you do 'info diff' (from the
command line, of course!), there is quite a bit of information in
there on using diff for this purpose.

Again I went through the 'info diff' pages and couldn't find a
working example or even a simple explanation showing a valid syntax.
Does anyone have a patch that uses some kind of version control they
can send me?
