This morning we had an unexpected power outage at our entire facility.
The XServe went down. When the power resumed, I started it up, but none of
the clients can get to the server. At the logon, they just hang.
Define "log on"? You mean you can't log in at the console? Can;t log
in via ssh? Can't log in using PWS accounts via SMB?
I used Disk Utility to rebuild permissions on the server, then restarted the
computer --- but same thing.
This only addresses the filesystem, which may not be corrupt for
services to be down.
In the server log file, I get an error message that says "Apple File
services couldn't be started".
So were you talking AFP logins?
What's the actual error?
