Re: Phantom Appletalk Printers

This is of particular interest to me, even though we're all OSX now. Last year under all of my OS9 machines the same thing was happening, but get this: I was seeing laser printers from a school district 30 miles away. (I checked with the tech guy there to verify the names of the printers) We do have a wireless WAN. Maybe they have a print server running with that entry?? Very strange indeed.

I have about 10 printers showing up in my chooser under OS 9, and in
printer utility on X, which do not exist on the network. For instance,
there is one named "MIS", and one named "Eric", and we have no such
printers. Can there be something on my network, like a switch, that is
still bouncing around old Appletalk names, that have not existed on
the network for years? I have no other way to explain how they got
there, except that maybe the guy who had my job before me had printers
set up with those names, but that was over 3 years ago.....

Thanks for any help.....
