Re: creating users with /bin/false?

thanks for the tip, I had actually set up /bin/false, but never looked at /etc/shells to see that ftpd was restricted to the defined shells there. I added /bin/false to that and then from the advanced section in workgroup manager, select custom for login shell and specify /bin/false

I am sure there are probably many ways, but we add this line to /etc/ shells

/usr/bin/true

And then manually enter /usr/bin/true for the user's shell in WGM.

Hope this helps.

I want to create ftp only users with no shell access. However, using Workgroup Manager, If I specify None for the shell under advanced, the user cannot then connect to the server at all, including ftp. Can anyone suggest how I might acheive the desired result?

thanks,
Eben
