Re: creating users with /bin/false?

I want to create ftp only users with no shell access. However, using Workgroup Manager, If I specify None for the shell under advanced, the user cannot then connect to the server at all, including ftp.

That would be the expected behavior.

Can anyone suggest how I might acheive the desired result?

Create a bogus shell to use, and add it to /etc/shells. FTP requires the shell be in /etc/shells for operation. Read the fine manuals.
