Re: mysql

Sorry if my meaning wasn't clear.

Dan is right.  It doesn't directly "affect" MySQL.  It affects a lot of things *using* MySQL.  Which in turn affects the usage of MySQL. Which, to take it to its logical end, means using MySQL in Tiger Server has some issues.  I hope everyone wasn't too terribly confused by my original statement.

Seriously, though - he is right - the new location is more secure, and I think that might be why you're still experiencing problems... did you check the permissions on /var/mysql and see if that is causing any issues?  Also, that KBase article doesn't tell you how to adjust your installation to use the "old_passwords" - you should check to see if that is causing any issues as well.

Cheers,

Andrew

There is an issue with MySQL on Tiger Server.  Apple moved the socket location from /tmp to /var/mysql from Panther to Tiger.

This doesn't affect `mysql`. It affects things using the socket, like poorly coded PHP.
