I think its "bad" to keep FileMaker databases within the Applications folder
so I create two additional share points;
fmserver
fmbackup
Then I create an alias to fmserver in the location FileMaker Server
"expects". This way I can mount the share point when I want to add or
maintain files. The fmbackup directory is where I get FileMaker Server to
dump copies of the hosted files. Its this directory which I backup via
other means.
Obviously during normal use there is no need to mount fmserver or fmbackup.
BTW I also set all my hosted files to single user and configure FileMaker
Server to host single user files. This way when I shutdown FileMaker Server
in order to maintain the files with FileMaker Pro there isn't any risk of a
user "connecting" while I'm working on something which needs exclusive
access.
Cheers, Malcolm
