I tried to upgrade one server from 10.3.9 to 10.4 and basically it
didn't work at all.
Very informative, thank you.
COuld you please read the first section of the Wiki FAQ and learn how to
1. I got an error message about Kerberos.
What message? Programmers write error messages to tell us what occurred.
From what I could ascertain, I didn't have any Kerberos records and
I couldn't find a way to make any. I know this is a big topic, but
what happened to the database? No user was in it any more.
Kerberos requires strict DNS. Are you sure your DNS is 100% valid?
2. Clients could log-in, but had no home folders. When I checked out
the shares, it didn't appear to have a network mount record and I
couldn't make one. I just couldn't authenticate to change it.
Again this could be caused by weak DNS. Or it could be caused by a
wide range of reasons, that's why we need information other than "It
doesn't work."
Any tips on the upgrade would be great . . .
Tiger is a completely different OS than Panther. Honestly. For this I
recommend doing clean installs and migrating over users instead of
trying to upgrade.
