I'm runing Tiger server with latest patches, I've enabled both interfaces,
Could you describe "both interfaces"? What sort of system is this?
one being on the university's official network, the other on a
private gigbit network which connects all servers (no gateway, no
router) on their second interfaces.
All hosts on a network must have a gateway and router, even if it's themselves.
Please describe this network topology in more detail.
I wanted to enable DHCP on both interfaces, where each interface
serves different IP networks. The 'Server Admin' application
provides checkboxes to select the interfaces for which the service
is to be available. You can enter different network addresses and ip
ranges, and you can successfully start the service.
However, when I look into the log files (and try out the services on
the different networks), only ONE network is serviced, never both.
If I select either one (but not both) interfaces, all is fine for
the corresponding IP address.
Is this a feature, or a bug? Anyone else noticed this?
It's not a feature or a bug but how routing works. I'll presume it's
operating on your primary NI and primary route and not the other?
