My firewire array will run as long as it was plugged into the rear
fire-wire port and mounted before the front panel is locked.  But if I
rboot the xserve g5 while it's locked the firewire array will not mount.
Odd behavior.

OK, the Apple docs are annoyingly fuzzy on this. They say that the lock
might keep "some" devices from working on FW.

I can state, for a fact, that I have installed FW tape drives on
multiple G5 Xserves and that they run with the lock on. I guess it
depends on the device.
