We would like to achieve the following improvements to our backup
system;
1. Reduce contention with workstations by using disk-to-disk to tape
scheme.
2. Retain daily incremental backups as a safety net for corrupt/
overwritten files.
3. Decrease the total
We currently have a backup system with the following characteristics.
1. 500 GB online storage (2 x 250 FW 400, 2 x 250 FW 800 drives)
2. VXA-2 Firewire drive (FW400)
3. Retrospect 6 Server
4. OS X Server 10.4
5. Dual G4 500
We are planning the following changes;
1. Upgrade to OS X Server 10.4
2. Upgrade to Dual G4 1.4 with Firewire 800
We are stuck with how to retain/achieve the daily incrementals with
disk-to-disk to tape scheme.
Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Rick Eberts
