Re: OD on 10.3.8

Hi Colin

Here’s the problem. I have a Mac OS 10.3.8 server (it does the same thing in 10.3.9) that can’t be promoted to an Open Directory master. DNS looks fine, I can do a lookup and a reverse lookup no problem. When I try to start the OD master, I get no error, but when I save the settings, I get an error that states: “unable to authenticate with the user name and password.” The username and password I’m using are the only ones on the server, and are full admin. Neither LDAP nor KDC will start. I have rebuilt it twice now, to no avail.

I have exactly the same issue here now. Were you able to resolve it?
I can use root to authenticate.
I use both ethernet ports, OD being served on the secondary interface.
Do I have to promote the server to a Master remotely? If so, do the Admin Tools 10.4 work?

Regards
