I have been using a Big Disk 500 for about 2 years now for backup. I had a
problem after 10.4 with the disk erroring out on writes and failing to
mount. There was a June firmware update that resolved these problems, but
LaCie did not publicized it well and even their page for the update is
confusing as it appears to be only for the FA Porsche drives.
