E-mail Account authentication issue

I host e-mail accounts for a few users on my OS X Server. The only way that they access this server is through the POP3 protocol.

It appears that their accounts are locking them out randomly. It seems to happen about once every 1 to 2 weeks. I am able to fix the issue by simply resetting their passwords and saving their account information in LDAP. The other thing to note is that this doesn't happen to every account, it seems to be isolated to just a few of them.

Is LDAP this fickle and prone to error, or is there something else going on here? Does LDAP lock the account after a certain number of incorrect login attempts? Has anyone else experienced any issues like this?

Thanks,
Colin
