Re: diradmin password change

Also in 10.3 when u change the admin password (most likely its for both the directory admin and local) it breaks the SMB PDC services if they are running.

Apparently changing that particulars user password does not update the opendirectorypdbconfig or opendirectorysam, hence the windows computers cannot authenticate any longer to the PDC.

Has this changed in 10.4.x ?

If not what is the procedure to sync the 2 user databases ?

Thanks

Hi

What's the safest way to change the password of diradmin in 10.4.3
server? In 10.3 the main admin account was also the directory admin
account, and I munged things by changing the password in WGM, (I was
able to rescue it using an article on AFP548.com's website). Cheers

Oh such a fun thread. Pet peeves abound... ;-)

1. I wouldn't use diradmin as your OD admin name. It's just a default and
I would think that something more specific to your organization would be
better.

2. On 10.3 I would never advise you make your local and OD domain admins
have the same name. Apple is helping with this practice now on 10.4.

To answer your question though you should be able to use passwd, or just
WGM like normal. Note that to change the admin password in WGM you need to
create a second admin to log into WGM as first.
