I got this Powermac G4 mounted in a rack with OS X Server 10.4.2
and for some reason the CRT connected to it decided not to do
1280x1024 with that mac (works with other boxes in the rack
though), So I logged via Remote Desktop and tried to lower the
resolution to 800x600 just to get something going but that proved
to be a mistake too since the image in Remote Desktop now is
blurred and unusable.
So is there any way I can force OS X Server 10.4.2 to boot into a
default resolution mode?
You don't need to reboot. Drop a copy of cscreen on to the G4:
Then set the resolution via ssh with a simple "./cscreen -x 640 -y 480"
