If I have oodles of dough I'd buy an Xraid, but its the mercedes
and we're
shopping for a ford at the moment.
Not to be overly critical of the XRaid (my boss would frown at me),
but I'd hardly call the XRaid the Mercedes of storage. It uses ATA,
which makes it a bad choice for multitasking/development
applications, and it has dedicated (read: not redundant)
controllers. It's a decent array at a reasonable price. More along
the lines of the Honda of storage arrays. ;-)
