Thank you for the response. Unfortunately, this document only
outlines how to interact with the PostgreSQL installed by ARD, not
how to get ARD to use an existng PostgreSQL install. Interesting
enough, the document states that one of the advantages of the
embedded install is that in can co-habitate with other PostgreSQL
installs. Which is not true, as they use the default port.
Which doesn't prevent you from using another port for your distro
and it working just fine.
But that's exactly the wrong way around.
If you're using PostgreSQL for a private purpose, like Apple have
done with ARD, Apple shouldn't take over the default port.
You could try changing the port in the .conf file inside the ARD
bundle, but I have a feeling it is hard wired somewhere on the
'client' side.
