10.4.2 OD Master (LDAP) and 10.3.9 Homes Server

Title: 10.4.2 OD Master (LDAP) and 10.3.9 Homes Server
Is there a compatibility issue with hosting an OD LDAP domain on a 10.4.2 server configured as an OD Master, and configuring the users in the domain to connect to a 10.3.9 server for their home folders?

We’ve bound the 10.3.9 clients and 10.4.2 clients to the OD Master, but cannot authenticate as an OD user on the 10.3.9 clients or directly to the 10.3.9 homes server from any client. When connecting from a 10.4.2 client, all seems ok, but not from 10.3.x! Any thoughts?
