Yes they can.
Assuming the server is operating in a NAT environment (several RFC1918
addresses behind a single routable address), the general advice is the
same for all devices similar in functionality to the 501:
In the router/firewall, you need to forward the ports of the desired
services to the LAN address of your Mac OS X Server. For example, to
grant external access to the SMTP and HTTP services running on your Mac
OS X Server (ie, mail and web), you'd need to create a rule in the
device to direct inbound traffic on TCP ports 25 and 80 to the LAN IP of
your Mac OS X Server.
The exact configuration steps for achieving this should be in the manual
for the device, or there are many Cisco forums (check the web) where
these sorts of configurations are discussed all the time.
