Number of emails

Is there a way to find out how many emails the OS X Mail server has handled (incoming and outgoing)... like a total number? I could not find a counter in the logs and looked at emails between 2 time periods and could not decrypt the Message ID... where else is a good place to look for such a trivial piece of data?
