Yes, iCal does not support writing to a WebDav server over HTTPS even in Tiger. The funny thing is that you can connect to a WebDav share over HTTPS (in 10.4 not 10.3) with no problems with "Connect to Server".

Yup, did that. Indeed, when I used HTTP it was pointing to the same folder and directory as when I used HTTPS. The former worked, the latter didn't.

This is failing *long* before the server is trying to do anything interesting with a file. There is some type of SSL error going on under the covers here.
