Kerberos on standalone

hi,

i am a new OSX server admin, and we are using the server for web- hosting of many domains. it is the only server in our setup.

i would like to take advantage of secure authentication like Kerberos offers, but am not sure it is wise to run Open Directory since we have only one server and it is on the Internet.

can i run Kerberos authentication as a standlone server?

is it okay to run as a Directory Master, when it is the only server in the setup?

any advice appreciated,
mason
