Re: 10.4 Network Homes and Font Hell

/Library/Caches/com.apple.ATS folder should be deleted on any machines that have font issues. It is not necessary to delete these automatically all the time as it can cause slowdown having to recreate them constantly. If a computer starts having font issues (substitutions, etc.) trashing this folder and restarting should fix it most of the time.

We have all 10.4.2 clients/servers so I think it is definitely a
Tiger issue. I can clean it up temporarily by deleting the contents
of a users Library/Fonts, Library/FontCollections and most
importantly the Library/Preferences/ByHost folder. It seems a user
experiencing the issue can log into another computer and not have the
font trouble. Also, a different user can log into a machine giving
someone else font problems and not have any issues.

We often see broken fonts in Microsoft Office X, Safari, and a few
cases where it only effects FireFox...

I find this particularly frustrating because we are not doing
anything with the Font Book or any special fonts, just regular day to
day usage is giving us trouble.
