I have a web server that is part of our OD domain. I recently
stumbled on the feature whereby Apache will correctly locate a user's
home directory when presented with a "~/username/" request, even if
the user's home directory is on another server. Very cool.
The problem I am having is that when the home directory server is
rebooted, the web server loses track of the mount points from that
server, and Apache is unable to access the users' Sites folders.
From an earlier discussion, I learned how to force the webserver to
refresh its mounts using this command:
But this only works up to a point. There are actually two shared
folders coming from the home directory server and when I run the
above command, only one is accessible. When I look at "/Network/
Servers", I can see both folders, however only one has any contents.
The other shows up as empty.
Rebooting the server solves the problem, but I would like to have a
less harsh solution. If I thought it would help, I would create a
cron job with the "automount" command above, but as I said, it
doesn't seem to work reliably.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
