If so, there is an outstanding bug with file locks (IIRC) on OSX
causing this problem at reboot time. We have it happen on our
XServes fairly often.
P.S. Managed PDUs allow you to be lazier ;)
I've experienced this behavior as well as something much worse:
kernel panics:
panic: vnode_put(...): iocount < 1
Are these being recorded in the /var/log/system.log file, because I
am finding nothing useful there? If anything you would expect a
crashdump.
The last system.log entry previous to the panic would be this:
Nov 8 03:14:57 sn-raid cp: error processing extended attributes:
Operation not permitted
I was expirencing both reboot-freezing and panics... Although
unsupported, I've since compiled a custom xnu kernel with the patch
and the problems have went away.
I filed a bug report with Apple a month ago today (Nov. 8th). It's
state is still open...
