I am a tech at a Middle School. Most of our teachers have iBooks. I have
recently started upgrading them to Panther (10.3.9). First I back them up,
erase the hard drive completely, install Panther, then do the updates and,
finally, put the teacher's backed up files on them. Each iBook has two
accounts on it... the owner (me) and the teacher.
In the last 3 weeks one of my first upgrades reported that when she
printed one copy of a file to the library, she got over 100 prints! She
now has to send her teaching assistant to the library networked printer
(Hewlitt Packard 4100) to kill the print job every time she prints. She's
one of our more savvy users, she really is sending a request for only one
copy.
So I tried deleting the plist (com.apple.MCX.plist) and anything else in
Prefs that had "printing" in its name). I did this in her Library and in
the owner Library. Then I recreated all her printers in Print Center. That
fixed it for a while, but it started happening again! And now I have a
second user reporting the same thing.
So far the teacher says this has happened using both AppleWorks and
EasyGrade Pro. So it doesn't appear to be application dependent.
Our server is Panther, for what it's worth.
Any suggestions would be appreciated,
/Casey
