Nigel,
Thanks for your response- I was hoping there was a way to just
"enable" it, but did the install from entropy as you suggested and
made the change to the php module location in apache. Maybe you
know a solution to another problem I have had with the same
install. While trying to "make install" i get the following error,
DynaLoader object version 1.04 does not match $DynaLoader::VERSION
1.43 at /System/Library/Perl/5.8.1/darwin-thread-multi-2level/
DynaLoader.pm line 105.
You obviously updated DynaLoader without consideration to it's
installed location which could have easily been solved by passing
specific parameters to the Makefile.PL in order to update/upgrade it
properly.
This kind of action is dangerous and shows that you did not consider
the repercussions of what you were doing.
As a fix-all you then install another version of perl (probably the
Aron Faby distro) in your attempt to recover from your first mistake
and that install has incompatibility problems of it's own.
Again, through everything I could find, it seemed as though the
only solution was to reinstall perl. Interestingly, I tried to set
the same thing up on a fresh G5 xServe running 10.3.9 and had the
same issue. So I downloaded the same version of perl that I am
currently running- so as not to upset the delicate balance of
[nearly] everything working. I ran perl Makefile.pl and got the
following,
Please tell me where I can find your apache src
[ ]
for the life of me, I can not locate the src files for apache on my
server, running 10.3.9. I have run into this dynaloader error
before, but was not critical so I moved on.
You can't locate them unless YOU download and place it where YOU need/
want it to be.
Try just hitting return and ignoring this since it can process the
files without the apache source files.
Any solutions to the dynaloader error, or on where the src files
are for apache so I can reinstall Perl would be most appreciated.
Attempting to install Perl with little to no knowledge of what is
required is another dangerous path to follow.
I've built perl 5.8.7 for 10.3.x and 10.4.x without causing any
problems and have automated the process making it easier for me to
achieve in future installs.
Are you employed in some IT position ???
Josh Bradley
Dale- what makes me almost fall down laughing is that you have
nothing better to do than to respond to a list with absolutely
nothing constructive to say, topped off with bad grammar ("cause
I'd have a hard time to stop laughing"). And though my question may
have seemed simple-minded to a mental giant such as yourself, a
question in any form is better than a foolish answer.
Josh, try growing up.
I offered you an answer to your question, are you now admitting that
you are incapable of doing a little research using your vast
resources or asking an additional question requesting more
information in your attempt to locate a solution to your problem???
Gramar, like it really matters if I mispell a wodr or tow or say
'cause' instead of 'because'.
I see you are having a problem and it's frustrating you however, you
seem to want to focus on the wrong issues and sidetrack things.
Are you afraid or incapable of asking me a simple and direct question
or are you just capable of making accusations based on what little
knowledge you have regarding the accusation you made.
At no time did you ask me to elaborate or explain on the possible
solution or indicate in any way that you were even interested in what
I might have to say on the matter so for you to complain that I said
nothing constructive is a bold-faced lie, it is you who made no
effort to ask any further questions if you didn't understand what I
was talking about.
