I to am interested in a simple load balancing solution, just from a
failover perspective. The problem I'm trying to get past is using
IPFailover to make sure my web sites stay up and running. IPFailover
works fine with just one IP but I have four of them.
Then you really should consider a load balancer such as a BigIP.
Failover wastes a whole system as a standby, and as you point out,
only provides one "up" host. Load balancing permits all members to
act as one "cluster" and seen by the user as just one machine when in
fact they may hit any for any request.
But again, the question you need to be asking yourself here is what
types of services you're providing.
