ok, i now have software update server running on my machine.
how do i set the client up to check my machine instead of apple's site?
Use Workgroup Manager's preferences settings.
Or, if you have ARD, you can issue the following unix command to the
clients, making sure to specify run as root:
defaults write com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL "http://
your.server.here:8088/"
Then, again in ARD issue this unix command, making sure to specify run
as root:
softwareupdate -i -a
To tell Software Update to install all updates. If you don't want all
the updates, then:
softwareupdate -l
To list the updates available and then:
softwareupdate -i name_of_first_update name_of_second_update etc
To install just the updates you name.
