I agree. Something like AD sites and services would be very very nice. Or at
least for the LDAP plugin to be IP aware and able to prefer a replica based
on that...

Having the config inside the directory is a good start, but there are a lot
more AD features Apple could be "inspired" by. Eg: LDAP being multi-master
(not just password server). But now I'm rambling and getting off-topic...
