okay, seems the solution for connection was Server Admin->Mail->Settings->Advanced->IMAP and POP SSL: switch from "Don't Use" to "Use". now I can log in, and see my mail.

NOW the trouble is, when I *send* mail from there? it is trying to load /webmail/src/compose.php and i get THIS...

Action Canceled. Internet Explorer was unable to link to the Web page you requested. blaa blaa blaa.

okay, WHAT is going on here?
