Network issues... how to move forward???

I wrote a couple of days ago about my OS X box - who's network preferences refused to open. Things are unravelling somewhat and I am now at the point that I can only log on as root - still have no network connections. For all intents and purposes - the server seems OK in every other regard. I am unable to ping, etc. etc.

This server serves a jBoss application and has MySQL DB running.

I'm thinking about doing a reinstall of OS X Server - but would I loose all my configeration info. and Database? Am not sure how invasive a reinstall really is. Does anyone have any insights?

Also, if I deployed a clean - new machine... how would I move my MySQL DB and users to the new machine? Any insights or pointers to more info. would be appreciated.

Regards,

Hugh Evans
