I wrote a couple of days ago about my OS X box - who's network
preferences refused to open. Things are unravelling somewhat and I
am now at the point that I can only log on as root - still have no
network connections. For all intents and purposes - the server seems
OK in every other regard. I am unable to ping, etc. etc.
This is *far* from normal.
The easiest thing to tell you is to backup and reinstall. You
obviously have a lot potential possible issues. It's probably going
to be your quickest alternative.
You can dump out your user databases and should backup your $HOMES
and other data for restoring.
Also, if I deployed a clean - new machine... how would I move my
MySQL DB and users to the new machine?
The same way you normally backup and restore mysql data, by dumping
and importing the databases.
